Change begins with You before Others

There are an enormous variety of people who are more than prepared to show up and be seen, who will step forward to support others in the face of adversity. Who will walk away from roles they love, people they love and places they love in order to step away from the dark and diminishing and into the light and uncertain opportunity. These are the people who bring us all forward.

.

We see an increasing volume of promotion from organisations alleging support and growing others which in truth revealed, reflects more about spotlighting popularity and marketshare, hidden agenda’s and positioning than the actual action and focus on growing individuals, the less fortunate or those seeking progress and success to better serve themselves and others for solid, purposeful reasons.

The focus of many instead is on comfort and status, significance and solitude, not the focus of the promotion and inclusion.

.

The results for disengagement, distortion, deflection, divorce, mental health, disappointment, dissatisfaction and disillusionment are increasing year on year. We see these in poor retention, increased devaluing cultures, oversight, ignorance, perversion and assumption, across all fields and all industries.

To progress, we need more people who are willing to demonstrate what it looks like to risk and endure failure, disappointment and regret, who continue to step forward and take every action to succeed, however they define that. Who are willing to teach others, hold humility instead of worrying about those who would gladly bring them down, and endure the opposition and abuse of others because the ‘bigger picture’ is the example that hundreds and thousands of others learn and shift their example from.

There are many CEO’s, MD’s, Managers, parents and individuals who each have experience and resolve, who lean toward emotional intelligence over fear and assumption to achieve goals and a vision. These are the people who will bring us all forward.

.

Vulnerability is having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome. It reflects the sincerity of the individual both toward themselves and toward others; at home, at work, amongst friends, family and those unknown. Vulnerability, also seen as persistent interest, joy, a desire to improve, a desire to support, a desire to grow and a desire to connect; is not weakness. It is the direct opposite. It drives passion, productivity, people, purpose and profits.

If we are to progress as an organisation, if we are to progress in a relationship, it requires vulnerability. Anything but excludes for entirely self-protective reasons and that is contradictory to progress, if progress and a positive outcome is the claimed desire. At some point, truth always appears, hopefully an openness and desire to be more aware in order to achieve mutual goals will outweigh the self-protection, intolerance, opposition and assumption. Truth always rises, even when we desperately try to ignore it or it is too late to resolve.

Living by what matters to you, being the example, is a very different Life. A very different workplace. A very different relationship.a

The World is a series of Connections. Relationships are a series of connections. We add to them, ignore or take away from them. The choice is always ours.
