The Act of Self Sabotage

Updated: Oct 23, 2018

“Giving up is easier than Standing up and giving in is more Attractive than Digging in; Success comes from Perseverance"

To understand the consideration of self-sabotaging that which we strive toward, we must first appreciate the reason which lies beneath experience, perception and projection.

The bottomline: self sabotage is due to a fear of failure and may include a fear of success.

If we consider our Ego as existing for the sole purpose to keep us safe, protected and comfortable by comparing what it knows to what it does not. We allow ourselves to consider the contradiction of 'New is dangerous, Known is comfortable'.

Self sabotage results from fearing to explore what is New.

Awareness says "it will be ok". Fear says "don’t do it", "act cautiously"

All we need know is that when Ego says “you can’t do that”, it is really saying “you haven’t done that”.

You are then able to ask yourself: "what matters to me. what is important to me"

Consider these words from Maryann Williamson:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the World. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others”
